Obverse description Bee depicted facing, with outspread wings and segmented body rendered in high relief at the center of the flan. The insect is shown frontally with head at top, the thorax and abdomen clearly articulated, and the wings extending laterally in a naturalistic manner characteristic of Ephesian coinage. The design is set within an irregular, slightly incuse circular field on the roughly shaped flan.

Reverse description Forepart of a stag to right, head turned back to the left, rendered in a lively and naturalistic style typical of early Ionian bronze coinage. Below the stag's neck, the magistrate's or civic symbol appears as a monogram in the lower field. The design occupies the center of the irregular flan, with the stag's antlers rising prominently toward the upper portion of the die.
