Obverse description Central field dominated by a large multi-pointed star or wheel cross with splayed arms radiating from a central boss, surrounded by a beaded inner circle. The interstices between the arms are filled with additional decorative pellets and foliate elements. The overall composition is characteristic of Tyrolean hammered billon coinage of the mid-fourteenth century, rendered in a bold, somewhat crude style typical of the period. The irregular flan edge shows characteristic flattening and flan-crack marks consistent with hand-struck production.
