Obverse description The tughra of Sultan Mahmud II occupies the central field, enclosed within a dotted inner circle. Surrounding this is a three-quarter chain wreath composed of floral and foliate elements, open at the base where a small dot appears below the wreath. The Arabic inscription identifying the Kostantiniyye (Constantinople) mint and the regnal year 1223 AH appear within the central device. Weight of individual specimens is known to vary between 6.40 and 7.80 grams.

Reverse description The central field bears multi-line Arabic inscriptions in Ottoman script denoting the denomination, value in para, and the regnal year, all enclosed within a dotted inner circle. A three-quarter chain wreath of floral and foliate motifs frames the central device, mirroring the obverse arrangement, and terminates at the base with a single dot below the wreath. The regnal year counter (sene) appears prominently within the legend, distinguishing the issues of years 25 and 26 of Mahmud II's reign.
