Obverse description Central field dominated by the elaborate tughra (imperial monogram) of Sultan Mahmud II, rendered in highly stylized Ottoman calligraphy with characteristic ascending strokes (tuğ) projecting upward to the right and a sweeping looped baseline (beyze). Arabic inscriptions accompany the tughra to the right. The entire central device is enclosed within a decorative floral wreath border of stylized leaves and rosettes encircling the coin's periphery.
