| Reverse description | Central field dominated by a large, boldly struck Roman numeral X denoting the denomination of ten réis, rendered in raised relief with pellet ornaments at each of the four terminal points and at the centre. Six-pointed star rosettes are placed in the angles of the X, with additional pellet groupings distributed across the field. The coin is encircled by a raised beaded inner border, beyond which the legend REX SEXTVS DECIMVS ('sixteenth king') runs in Latin majuscules, referring to King Sebastião I as the sixteenth sovereign, creating the distinctive hybrid attribution combining the obverse die of João III with the reverse die of Sebastião I. |
