Obverse description Central shield of Lorraine — bearing a bend sinister charged with three eaglets — surmounted by a small cross of Lorraine at the chief, with a sword overlaid vertically across the escutcheon. The shield is set in the open field, with the surrounding circular legend in Gothic-influenced Latin letters separated by pellet stops, running close to the beaded inner border.
