| Obverse description | The crowned Portuguese royal arms displayed prominently in the center of the field, featuring the characteristic escutcheon with the five quinas arranged in cross form, surrounded by a border of castles. The crown above the shield is of Portuguese royal type. The overall design is rendered in low relief consistent with cast tin coinage of the Goa mint of this period. |

| Additional information |
The bazaruco was the workhorse denomination of Portuguese India's copper-tin coinage, used for the smallest transactions in Goa's markets across two centuries. João V's reign was the longest of any Portuguese monarch — 43 years — which accounts for the wide date range assigned to this type; attributing individual pieces more precisely within that span is rarely possible from physical evidence alone.
Tin coinage from Goa corrodes aggressively in tropical humidity, and survivors without active bronze disease or surface pitting are genuinely scarce.
