Reverse description Within a beaded inner circle, a floriated cross with fleur-de-lis terminals occupies the central field, the arms dividing the space into four quarters. The peripheral legend reads + S+THEODOLVS, invoking Saint Theodore (Theodulus), the patron saint of the Diocese of Sion. The lettering is separated by a cross at the beginning of the inscription, and the design is executed in the crude hammered style characteristic of Swiss episcopal billon coinage of the sixteenth century.
