Obverse description Draped bust of Queen Victoria left, hair braided and adorned with a jewelled headband, rendered in high relief. The engraver's signature BOVY.F and the date 1846 appear in the lower field. The surrounding legend arcs around the upper and right portions of the rim.

Reverse description The entire reverse field is occupied by a multi-line incuse inscription in relief lettering, commemorating the meeting of Queen Victoria and King Louis-Philippe I at the Château d'Eu on 2 September 1843. No figural design is present; the text is arranged in graduated lines across the plain field within a raised rim.
