Reverse description The reverse bears a multi-line Arabic legend in raised cast lettering filling the field, reading 'Al-Sultan Muhammad Sharaf al-Din', identifying the ruling sultan of Sulu. A crescent device appears prominently at the upper portion of the field. The calligraphy is rendered in a cursive hand typical of Southeast Asian Islamic coinage, distributed across several lines within the irregular round flan. The overall style is consistent with the vernacular cast tin coinage tradition of the Sulu Sultanate.
