Nertobis was a Celtiberian mint operating in the middle Ebro valley during the late second century BC, when Rome's reorganization of Hispania following the Numantine War (133 BC) created both the administrative pressure and the economic need for local bronze coinage. The precise location of Nertobis remains unresolved — proposed identifications with Calahorra and other sites along the Ebro have not been definitively settled by archaeology or epigraphy.

The ACIP classification places this issue within a tightly defined group of Celtiberian municipal bronzes struck under Roman provincial oversight, where local magistrates retained the right to mint small denominations for regional exchange.
