| Obverse description | Three punch marks impressed upon the U-shaped gold flan. The principal device depicts Garuda, the divine eagle, striding to the right with a serpent held in hand. Flanking legends in Kannada script read 'Ude' and 'Kara', together forming the inscription 'Udekara'. The punch marks are distributed across the surface of the irregular flan in the characteristic fashion of early medieval South Indian fanam coinage. |
