| Obverse description | Crowned and armored bust of King Stefan Batory facing right, wearing a ruffled collar and decorated pauldron, with a full beard rendered in fine detail. An ornate crown surmounts the effigy. The surrounding Latin legend is interrupted by dots and reads partially as STEP · REX · POL (Stephanus Rex Poloniae), running along the inner border of the coin. The field is plain, and the coin is struck within a rope-pattern border characteristic of Polish hammered coinage of this period. |

| Reverse description | Central field bears the denomination numeral III above the crowned Polish eagle shield flanked by two supporters — a Transylvanian raven to the left and a lion to the right — referencing Stefan Batory's dual rule. Below the supporters, the four-line Latin inscription reads GROS · ARG / TRIP · REG / POLONI · E / with the date divided around the Poznań mint mark (a stylized P within a cartouche) at the bottom, reading 85 (for 1584 or 1585). A rope-pattern border frames the entire design. |
