Obverse description Right-facing bust of Sigismund III Vasa, crowned and bearded, wearing an ornate ruffled collar and draped mantle, rendered in the late Renaissance style typical of Polish royal coinage. The crown is jewelled and open, prominently positioned above the portrait. The encircling Latin legend reads SIG III DG REX PO M D L, denoting the king's title as King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania. The legend is separated from the portrait by a beaded inner border. The overall die work is characteristic of late 16th-century hammered silver coinage of the Poznań mint.
