| Obverse description | Draped bust of King Jan II Kazimierz Waza facing right, rendered in a somewhat crude but expressive baroque style characteristic of mid-17th century Polish coinage. The king is depicted with flowing hair and armored or robed shoulders. The circular Latin legend runs along the inner border, partially divided by the bust, reading IOA CAS D G POL & S REX, abbreviating Ioannes Casimirus Dei Gratia Poloniae et Sueciae Rex. A beaded or rope border frames the design. |
