| Obverse description | Forepart of a lion facing left, rendered in archaic Greek style with bold, deeply cut striations delineating the mane. The beast's open jaws and alert eye are rendered with vigorous artisanship characteristic of early Carian coinage. The design occupies the majority of the flan, with the lion's chest and forelegs cropped by the coin's irregular edge. The relief is high and well-struck, consistent with early fifth-century BC Greek silver coinage from the region. |
