Obverse description Eagle displayed standing to right, wings fully spread, grasping a hare firmly in its talons; the prey is rendered with naturalistic detail beneath the bird's powerful frame. The composition occupies the full field in a bold, high-relief style characteristic of Akragantine bronze coinage of the late fifth century BC. To the right of the eagle's body, the partial retrograde legend AKPA appears in Greek characters within the field. The flan is broad and slightly irregular, with a dotted border partially visible along the rim.
