| Reverse description | Large incuse square containing a prominent letter A (alpha), the civic symbol of Argos, with a wolf's head or shell device at the base of the letter. The magistrate's name ΞΕΝΟΦΙΛΟΥ (genitive of Xenophilos) is distributed around the alpha in the field: ΞΕ upper left, ΝΟ upper right, Φ and Ι on the left, ΛΟΥ at lower right. The arrangement is typical of late Hellenistic Argive fractional coinage, with the magistrate's name serving as the principal reverse inscription. |
