| Obverse description | Helmeted head of Athena facing right in the archaic-Classical style, wearing a crested Attic helmet adorned with a palmette at the brow and an olive leaf scroll. The eye is rendered frontally in the archaic convention, and the hair falls in a thick lock below the helmet rim. The cheek-guards of the helmet are raised, and the neck and jaw are rendered with fine detail characteristic of the "New Style" Athenian coinage tradition. |
