Reverse description Large lunate letter Alpha (Α) displayed prominently at center, serving as the monogram for Argos, with a horizontal bar at the base and a row of pellets beneath. To the upper left of the Alpha appears the magistrate's control letter Phi (Φ), and to the upper right the letter Alpha (Α), forming the abbreviated legend ΦΑ identifying a civic magistrate. The bold, deeply incuse lettering is characteristic of the late Hellenistic Argive hemidrachm series. The flan is irregular with a slightly rough surface consistent with hammered coinage of the period.
