| Obverse description | Facing head of Helios, rendered in fine Hellenistic style, with thick curling locks radiating outward from the crown and temples. The deity's visage is presented nearly en face with a slight turn to the left, exhibiting well-modelled features including large almond-shaped eyes, a straight nose, and slightly parted lips. Triangular solar rays project prominently from behind the hair, arranged symmetrically around the entire periphery of the head, filling the field. The portrait is set within a plain inner border, demonstrating the accomplished die-cutting characteristic of the Tarentine mint during this period. |
