Obverse description Veiled and wreathed head of Kore (Persephone) facing left, rendered in fine Sicilian engraving style with flowing wavy hair swept behind the neck. A bow is visible in the field behind the head, serving as an attribute of the goddess. The portrait is set within a plain circular border, with a Greek legend partially visible around the periphery. The modeling of the facial features reflects the high artistic standards characteristic of Syracusan bronze coinage of the early third century BC.
