Obverse description Facing bust of King Witerico rendered in the schematic late antique style characteristic of Visigothic tremisses, depicted wearing a diademed helmet with pendilia falling to either side and draped robes, set within a plain inner circle. The bust occupies the central field in a frontal, stylized manner. The surrounding circular legend reads + VVITTERICVS REX in Latin capitals, beginning with a cross pattée, with the letters arranged around the full circumference of the coin.
