| Obverse description | Facing bust of King Witerico rendered in the schematic, highly stylized manner characteristic of late Visigothic coinage, with a broad, flat face and large forward-staring eyes. The bust is shown draped and cuirassed, with the neckline articulated by a series of horizontal ridges. Pendilia hang from either side of the diademed head, and a cross surmounts the crown. The surrounding legend reads + VVITTERICVS RE, composed of bold, somewhat irregular Latin letters distributed around the coin's periphery. |
