| Reverse description | Central type features a highly stylized facing or frontal bust, reduced to an abstract arrangement of pellets, arcs, and angular forms typical of late Visigothic die-cutting. The surrounding field is populated with star-shaped and lozenge-shaped ornaments in high relief, continuing the decorative vocabulary of the obverse. A spiral or volute element is visible to the right of the central device, a common feature in mint-of-Cordoba issues of this period. The outer border is beaded or serrated. The circumferential legend + CORDOBA PIVS identifies both the mint city of Córdoba and the royal epithet PIVS, affirming the pious character of King Suintila's reign. |
