Obverse description Frontal facing bust of King Sisebut, diademed and draped, set within a beaded inner circle. The king is depicted in the stylized Visigothic manner with a prominent beaded necklace and a cross pattee surmounting the crown. The bust is rendered in a schematic, hieratic style characteristic of late Visigothic gold coinage. The surrounding legend SISEBVTVS RE is distributed around the effigy in bold, angular Latin lettering within the field.
