| Obverse description | Schematized frontal royal effigy of King Sisebut, rendered in the debased late antique style characteristic of Visigothic coinage. The bust is depicted facing, with a stylized diademed or laureate head featuring pellet eyes and rudimentary facial features. The body is shown frontally with crossed bands or a torque across the chest, flanked by pellets on either side. The surrounding field is densely populated with star-shaped or trefoil ornaments arranged concentrically, filling the entire flan. The legend + SISEBVTVS RE runs around the periphery, bordered by a beaded inner circle and a toothed outer rim. |
