Reverse description Central motif consisting of a cross potent set upon a stepped base or podium, a type derived from Byzantine prototypes and widely employed on Visigothic tremisses of the Toledo mint. The cross and base are boldly struck in the center of the field, with the surrounding area filled by the circular Latin legend + TOLETO PIVS arranged around the periphery. A beaded border encloses the design. The execution is typical of the Toledo (Toleto) mint production under Recceswinth, displaying the characteristic schematic style of mid-seventh-century Iberian hammered gold coinage.
