Obverse description Central field displays a stylized facing bust of King Recceswinth rendered in the debased late antique manner typical of Visigothic coinage, with a cross pattee surmounting the head. Below the bust appears a rectangular altar or architectural element with pelleted border, flanked by pellets. The surrounding legend in retrograde and irregular Latin capitals reads + RECCESVINTVS P, interspersed with star-shaped decorative elements, all within a beaded border along the coin's irregular periphery.
