| Obverse description | Facing bust of King Recaredo I depicted in a highly stylized, pseudo-Byzantine manner, with a schematic face rendered frontally, wearing a diadem or crown with pendilia suggested by flanking elements, and a broad collar or corselet below the neck. The bust is surrounded by the royal legend in degraded Latin characters arranged in a circular field. The overall style is characteristic of late Visigothic coinage, with boldly struck but schematized lettering surrounding the central effigy. The coin is enclosed by a beaded border. |
