| Obverse description | Diademed and draped bust of Emperor Phocas facing right, wearing an imperial diadem adorned with pendilia and a cuirass with paludamentum visible at the shoulder. The effigy is rendered in the late antique Byzantine style characteristic of early 7th-century coinage. The Latin legend is disposed in the field to either side of the bust. The overall style reflects the relatively crude engraving typical of tremisses struck during the reign of Phocas. |
