Obverse description Diademed bust facing right in a highly stylized, debased manner characteristic of Merovingian coinage of the mid-seventh century. A cross appears above the head, with a palm frond surmounted by a cross pattée to the right of the effigy; a second cross pattée is placed upon the frond. The facial features and drapery are rendered in an abstracted, schematic style typical of the Banassac workshop. A Latin legend runs in the surrounding field.

Reverse description A chalice with a broad cup and spreading foot is depicted in the center of the field, set upon a pelleted ground line — a distinctive and recurring type associated with the Banassac mint and its moneyers during the Merovingian period. The design is boldly struck in high relief but rendered in the characteristic crude, schematic style of the workshop. The surrounding Latin legend names the moneyer and the mint. The overall composition, though simplified, retains clear symbolic Christian eucharistic reference.
