| Obverse description | Diademed bust facing right, rendered in the debased Merovingian style derived from late Roman imperial prototypes, with pronounced pellet ornamentation at the neck and along the diadem. To the right of the effigy stands a cross pattée flanked by a pellet above and below, serving as a field symbol. The portrait is boldly struck with angular, stylised features characteristic of early seventh-century Frankish gold coinage. The beaded border encircles the entire design. |

| Reverse description | Central device consisting of a chalice surmounted by a cross, a distinctively Merovingian religious motif reflecting the ecclesiastical character of the Banassac mint. The legend ELAFIVS MONETA is distributed around the field in angular, retrograde or irregular Latin characters typical of the period, with individual letters separated by pellets or crosses. The beaded border frames the entire reverse composition. The execution is characteristic of the provincial Frankish hammered coinage of the early seventh century. |
