| Obverse description | Facing bust of King Liuva II in the centre of the field, rendered in a schematic late antique style with long flowing hair and a stylised torso visible below. The bust is set within an oval or mandorla-like surround formed by deeply struck raised points. The field around the central effigy is densely populated with bold six-pointed stars arranged in a radiating pattern, a characteristic decorative motif of Visigothic tremisses. The entire design is enclosed by a beaded border running along the coin's periphery. The Latin legend + D N LIVVA REX ('Our Lord King Liuva') runs around the circumference. |
