| Obverse description | Schematized frontal royal effigy of King Liuva II rendered in the debased late-antique Visigothic style, with a large stylized face framed by striated hair falling to the shoulders and a beaded necklace at the throat. The bust is draped and shows crossed bands across the chest, typical of Visigothic regal portraiture. The figure is surrounded by a border of large, deeply struck six-pointed stars arranged around the entire circumference of the flan. The Latin legend + DN LIVVA REX runs around the effigy, identifying the ruler as Dominus Noster Liuva Rex. |
