Obverse description Facing bust of the king in highly stylised late antique manner, depicted with long hair falling to the shoulders and wearing a jewelled cuirass or corselet with pellets at the base. The bust is set within a beaded inner border, surrounded by a decorative field populated with stylised leaf or crescent ornaments arranged in a circular pattern around the central effigy. A cross motif appears above the bust. The overall composition is characteristic of Visigothic tremissis coinage, displaying a schematic, flat rendering typical of early seventh-century Iberian gold coinage.
