Crossed scepters or torques appear below the bust, continuing the iconographic program derived from late Byzantine solidus prototypes. The Latin legend naming the mint of Iliberi (Eliberri) encircles the central device. The execution is typical of the Iliberi mint under Gundemar, displaying the highly conventionalized engraving style common to early seventh-century Visigothic tremisses. |
