| Reverse description | Central frontal bust of stylized character, closely mirroring the obverse in design and execution, with schematic facial features and a simplified draped bust below, consistent with the mint's die-cutting conventions. The surrounding Latin legend + BERCANCIA PIVS identifies the mint of Bergancia (Betanzos) and the epithet PIVS, a traditional royal virtue title. The legend is set between the bust and a beaded border, the lettering exhibiting the irregular, semi-cursive forms typical of Visigothic tremisses struck at provincial mints. |

| Additional information |
Gundemar ruled for less than two years before his death in 612, making his coinage among the scarcest of all Visigothic issues by sheer reign duration. The mint attribution to Bergancia — modern Braga, in northwestern Iberia — reflects the continued Visigothic administrative reach into what had been the old Suevic heartland, absorbed into the kingdom only in 585 under Leovigild.
CNV 193 / Pliego 235 is a recognized type, but surviving examples are infrequently encountered in the market.
