Reverse description Central field dominated by a long cross with splayed terminals, characteristic of the late Visigothic tremissis coinage, rising from a base and flanked by decorative star or pellet ornaments in the field. The cross design reflects the strong religious iconography of the Visigothic Christian monarchy. A circular Latin legend surrounds the central motif, reading VVITTIZA PX REGES, identifying the co-ruler Wittiza alongside the royal title, with the lettering in the angular and compressed style associated with the Mentesa mint workshop. The flan is irregular and slightly clipped, consistent with hammered coinage of this period.
