Obverse description Draped and diademed bust of the king facing right, rendered in a stylized late antique manner characteristic of Merovingian coinage. The effigy displays schematic facial features with a prominent eye and simplified drapery at the shoulder. A circular legend surrounds the bust, running along the coin's periphery within the irregular flan. The overall workmanship reflects the provincial Frankish adaptation of Byzantine imperial portrait conventions.
