Obverse description King Stefan Radoslav depicted in full imperial Byzantine attire stands facing at left, his right hand raised across his chest in a gesture of piety while his left hand holds a globus cruciger; to the right, the Virgin Mary (Theotokos) stands facing, her right arm raised in the act of crowning the king. The two figures are rendered in the flat, stylized manner characteristic of Serbian medieval billon trachea, closely imitating Byzantine prototypes. A circular border frames the composition, with the Greek legend distributed across the field.
