Obverse description Retrograde Palaeologan imperial monogram composed of the letters ΓΛ ΑΠ (reading Andronikos Palaiologos), rendered in two lines within the concave field. The monogram is presented without border or additional legend, occupying the central field of the scyphate flan. The composition is characteristic of the simplified struck coinage of the Thessalonica mint under Andronikos II.
