| Reverse description | Central field features a floriated cross pattée, with a quatrefoil rosette in each of the four angles formed by the arms of the cross, all contained within a beaded inner circle. The cross is rendered in bold relief in the Gothic hammered tradition. A circular Latin legend surrounds the inner circle, reading the devotional motto 'IN HOC SIGNO VINCES' (In this sign you shall conquer). The design is typical of Portuguese silver coinage of the Manueline period, combining religious symbolism with strong geometric composition. |
