| Obverse description | Central cross pattée dividing the field into four quarters, each containing a shield: the upper two quarters bear castles within beaded squares, while the lower two quarters display five-roundel escutcheons of Portugal within beaded squares. A crown surmounts the central cross at the top. The circular legend reads + FERNANDVS : REX : PORTVGA, enclosed between two concentric beaded borders. The overall style is characteristic of mid-14th-century Portuguese hammered billon coinage. |

| Reverse description | A stylised Gothic castle with towers and battlements occupies the center of the field, rendered in low relief typical of hammered medieval coinage. The castle is set upon a baseline, with the mint mark M-I visible in the lower field, identifying the Miranda do Douro mint. The surrounding circular legend reads + DOMINVS : MICHI : AVITOR : E M - I, enclosed within beaded inner and outer borders. The lettering is in Gothic-influenced Roman capitals consistent with Portuguese royal issues of Fernando I. |
