Obverse description Central effigy of Fath Ali Shah seated on the Peacock Throne in three-quarter view to the left, rendered in the formal Qajar court style. The sovereign is depicted in full royal regalia with elaborate crown and jewelled garments. A cartouche bearing the royal name appears in the left field. The composition is framed within a circular border with fine beaded or decorative edging characteristic of Qajar hammered gold coinage.
