| Obverse description | Struck in the style of a traditional East Asian cash coin, the obverse features four large Chinese characters arranged in cruciform fashion around a central square hole: 令 (top), 通 (right), 寶 (left), and 和 (bottom), reading 令和通寶 (Reiwa Tsuho). The characters are rendered in raised relief with bold, calligraphic strokes against a plain field. No border legend or rim decoration is present beyond the plain raised rim. |

| Reverse description | The reverse is similarly styled as a traditional cash coin with a central square hole flanked by Chinese character inscriptions in the field. The legends record the date of issue 令和元年 (Reiwa 1st year, 2019) along with the auspicious phrase 萬歲 (Long live) and the dedicatory inscription 臺灣高士神社 (Taiwan Kusku Shrine), identifying the issuing institution. Characters are rendered in raised relief with calligraphic brushwork, set against a plain, unadorned field within a plain raised rim. |
