| Obverse description | Left-facing draped bust of Marianne, laureate with ears of wheat, her hair elaborately dressed and bound with a ribbon at the nape. The engraver's signature 'L. MERLEY' appears in the lower field along with the designation 'PROJET 1985' and the composition mark 'BR.FLO'. The legend 'REVOLUTION FRANÇAISE' arcs around the upper periphery, with a six-pointed star at the top of the field. The portrait closely follows the classic Cérès-type design of the Second Republic coinage. |
