Obverse description A robed figure, identified as a Jesuit founder, is depicted in high relief in a kneeling or seated posture with hands raised in a gesture of prayer or supplication, gazing upward toward a church steeple surmounted by a cross at the right of the field. A dove in flight is rendered in relief to the upper right, against a darkened background field.

Reverse description The outer rim bears the encircling legend ATENEO DE MANILA UNIVERSITY SESQUICENTENNIAL separated by ornamental stops. The central field features two stacked heraldic roundels surrounded by elaborate filigree scrollwork. The upper roundel displays the IHS christogram with radiating rays and carries the legend LUX IN DOMINO in its upper arc and ATENEO in its lower arc. The lower roundel bears the dates 1859 and 2009 flanking the IHS monogram in its upper arc, THE ATENEO WAY in its lower arc, and the numeral 150 prominently in its center field.
