Reverse description The reverse field is entirely occupied by a bold multi-line inscription in capital letters reading DORSETSHIRE / WILTSHIRE / AND / SHAFTESBURY / BANK TOKEN, with the word Value rendered in flowing cursive script below, all enclosed within an outer circular legend reading ONE SHILLING around the lower arc and DORSETSHIRE around the upper arc. A decorative interlaced cipher or flourish device appears at the top of the field above the text, and a scrolled ornamental rule separates the cursive Value from the encircling legend. The design is characteristic of English provincial silver bank tokens issued under the Act of 1811 to alleviate the shortage of regal silver coinage.
