Obverse description
Designed by Jules Charbneau at Ye Old Curiosity Shop in Seattle WA as the official gold coins of the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific-Exposition. Struck from Alaska Gold. Privately issued by M.E. Hart Co., San Francisco, sponsors of many gold tokens between 1908 and 1915. Several die varieties are known, both obverse and reverse. A standing miner, holding a pick over his right shoulder, left hand on hip; spade and pan in background behind his legs; to left 19, to right 09; above all, around Alaska Gold; below all A.Y.P.E.; beaded border.
